The use of an external cavity favors monomode behavior and, depending on the cavity finesse, allows to reduce the natural linewidth of the laser. As an example, a cavity based on diffraction grating downsizes the linewidth to a few kHz. Nevertheless, various \u2018low frequency\u2019 noises contribute to increase the laser linewidth to a few MHz for integration time of the order of the second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Single Blue project aims to reduce the \u2018low frequency\u2019 noise of blue laser diodes for linewidth narrowing and stabilization. Two servo loops will be studied: a pre-stabilization scheme based on an optical cavity and long term stabilization realized by locking the laser on an atomic transition.
