{"id":713,"date":"2023-09-13T14:10:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T12:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.institut-foton.eu\/?p=713"},"modified":"2025-09-23T11:21:56","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T09:21:56","slug":"lasers-a-semiconducteurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.institut-foton.eu\/en\/lasers-a-semiconducteurs\/","title":{"rendered":"Semiconductor Lasers"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Correspondants: Christophe LEVALLOIS et Cyril PARANTHO\u00cbN<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La th\u00e9matique de recherche &#8220;Lasers \u00e0 semiconducteurs&#8221; s\u2019inscrit dans les axes &#8220;Capteurs photoniques&#8221; et &#8220;Photonique hyperfr\u00e9quence et THz \u2212 Communications optiques&#8221; de l&#8217;Institut FOTON <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis 40 ans les diodes lasers semiconductrices ont envahi de nombreux secteurs : l\u2019industrie, le m\u00e9dical, le stockage de l\u2019information, la d\u00e9fense, l\u2019automobile, sans oublier \u00e9videmment les communications par fibre qui ont d\u2019abord \u00e9t\u00e9 le moteur principal du d\u00e9veloppement de ce type de laser. Aujourd\u2019hui les diodes lasers font toujours l\u2019objet d\u2019une recherche soutenue, et du fait de leurs tailles tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duites, ce type de lasers s\u2019invitent de plus en plus dans notre environnement quotidien au sein de produits \u00e9lectroniques sans qu\u2019on s\u2019en rende compte. A titre d\u2019exemple, on peut citer les syst\u00e8mes de reconnaissance faciale de nos smartphones qui embarquent aujourd\u2019hui des VCSEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9partement OHM m\u00e8ne une activit\u00e9 de recherche sur ces <strong>dispositifs laser \u00e0 base de semiconducteurs III-V<\/strong>, abordant \u00e0 la fois des aspects fondamentaux comme le design des zones actives, mais aussi des aspects plus orient\u00e9s sur des d\u00e9veloppements technologiques avec pour objectif principal de d\u00e9velopper de nouvelles fonctionnalit\u00e9s. Dans le cadre de projets collaboratifs, le d\u00e9partement OHM en lien avec des laboratoires fran\u00e7ais <em>(LAAS, C2N, IMT Atlantique, IES)<\/em> et \u00e9trangers <em>(EPFL, Tampere univ., Politecnico di Torino)<\/em> a ainsi r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des lasers semiconducteurs innovants \u00e0 \u00e9mission verticale (<strong>VCSEL ou VECSEL<\/strong>) int\u00e9grant des <strong>nanostructures quantiques<\/strong> de la <strong>fili\u00e8re InP<\/strong> (boites et fils quantiques). L\u2019\u00e9quipe a \u00e9galement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une technologie originale permettant d\u2019impl\u00e9menter de nouvelles fonctionnalit\u00e9s d\u2019accordabilit\u00e9 en longueur d\u2019ondes. FOTON-OHM \u00e9tudie aussi en \u00e9troite collaboration avec le d\u00e9partement DOP les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s optiques non lin\u00e9aires inh\u00e9rentes aux zones actives de ces lasers \u00e0 des fins applicatives li\u00e9es aux \u00e9metteurs bi-fr\u00e9quence et aux lasers \u00e0 faible bruit d\u2019intensit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En parall\u00e8le de ces activit\u00e9s sur les dispositifs verticaux de type VCSEL, le d\u00e9partement OHM a \u00e9galement toujours maintenu des liens avec l\u2019industrie, et notamment ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es avec l\u2019entreprise 3SP Technologies, productrice de diodes lasers pour le march\u00e9 des communications optiques. Cette collaboration a d\u2019ailleurs amen\u00e9 en 2022 \u00e0 la construction d\u2019un laboratoire commun entre l\u2019entreprise et l\u2019Institut FOTON qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 baptis\u00e9 SMART-FACETS. Cette collaboration vise dans un premier temps \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des technologies innovantes de passivation des facettes laser \u00e9mettant \u00e0 980 nm qui seront utiles aux nouvelles g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de composants d\u00e9ploy\u00e9es dans les r\u00e9seaux de communication optique pour les 5 \u00e0 15 ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. Ce type de collaboration sera aussi un moteur pour faire \u00e9merger de nouveaux sujet d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat commun entre 3SP Technologies et l\u2019Institut FOTON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
