The faculty members, researchers, PhD students, technicians and engineers of the FOTON Institute make a significant contribution to physics education and training in Brittany.

Higher Education

FOTON Institute members contribute to teaching activities from undergraduate studies (L1) to Master’s programs (M2) at the University of Rennes, on the Beaulieu campus, particularly within the UFR SPM.

Members of the FOTON-OHM department are responsible for the majority of physics teaching activities, notably within the Physical Engineering and Materials Engineering Department at INSA Rennes.

Members of the FOTON-SP department are actively involved in teaching at ENSSAT, particularly within the Photonics Engineering program and the work-study Photonics & Electronics program, as well as at the IUT of Lannion, a component of the University of Rennes.

FOTON Institute staff also contribute to the teaching activities of the Brittany Master’s Program in Photonics.

Research Training

Each year, the FOTON Institute welcomes several dozen PhD candidates, interns and trainees, ranging from middle-school students to Master’s (M2) students.

PhD candidates at the Institute are affiliated with the MATISSE Doctoral School.

We invite you to consult our PhD offers and internship offers.

Technology Platforms

The FOTON Institute provides unique shared access to several leading technology platforms, including CCLO, NanoRennes, and PERSYST, as well as common facilities and specialized laboratory testbeds through its technology workshops. These state-of-the-art facilities support high-level training in areas such as high-speed optical communications, laser metrology, integrated photonics, and optoelectronic technologies based on III-V semiconductor materials integrated on silicon.
