Team leader : Marc VALLET

The common denominator of the DOP team’s research activities is coherent optics. We work on a wide range of topics, including low-noise lasers, terahertz metrology, dual-frequency lasers, optoelectronic oscillators, interferometric sensors, imaging, lidar, frequency combs, fiber sensors and optical antenna control. One of our specificities is to address fundamental problems in optics, while at the same time carrying out major instrumental developments. To achieve this, the team relies on a multi-skilled technical platform (optics, electronics, mechanics, IT) to design and build original systems.

In addition, the team’s teaching and research staff actively contribute to cutting-edge training in photonics, notably through the regional Master’s degree in Photonics.

Our research

The DOP team’s research themes aim to deepen fundamental knowledge, particularly in laser physics, to develop innovative applications, in particular for microwave/THz optics, and for imaging. These activities, mainly experimental, are based on a strong complementarity of technical skills, and on an outstanding collection of scientific instruments (lasers, optical systems, optical and electronic test & measurement, etc…)
